ABSTRACT
Since its start in 2002, the ITC Project has been conducting evaluation studies of tobacco control policies via prospective cohort surveys of tobacco users in 28 countries, including 9 EU countries. This presentation will focus on the design of the ITC Project and how it differs from and complements existing evidence-gathering systems (monitoring and surveillance systems) in measuring and understanding the impact of FCTC policies. The presentation will also describe the ITC Project's most recent initiatives: (1) the EUREST-PLUS study focusing on measuring the impact of the Tobacco Products Directive, and (2) a large-scale international cohort study of e-cigarettes starting in the United States, Canada, England, and Australia.
